The Amano Shrimp is one of the most renowned algae-eating shrimp in the hobby, featuring a translucent grey-green body with rows of small reddish-brown dots along the sides. Introduced to the aquarium trade by aquascape legend Takashi Amano, it is a tireless worker that tackles even tough algae types like green hair algae and black brush algae. Native to Japan, Taiwan, and coastal East Asia, it thrives in well-planted, mature aquariums.
